One Day Workshop on Dissemination of Information on Issues Addressed under Cess Supported R& D Projects


A one day workshop was organized by Central Pulp & Paper Research Institute, Saharanpur,(U.P.) India CPPRI on Dissemination of Information on Issues Addressed under Cess Supported R& D Projects at Scope Complex, New Delhi on February 20, 2014.

The objective of the workshop was to disseminate the information related to the recently completed projects approved by Cess Committee under Development Council for Pulp, Paper & Allied industries. The workshop attracted over whelming response participation from paper Industry as well as mill associations( IPMA, IARPMA and INMA) , stake holders , academicians and scientists

Initiating the workshop Dr. R.M, Mathur, Director CPPRI & Member Secretary Cess Committee welcomed the participants and gave a brief presentation on the Cess Supported R&D Objectives Objective, Focus Areas & Recent Activities. The workshop involved two Technical Sessions in which following presentations were made by the officials from various executing agencies like Central Pulp & Paper Research Institute (CPPRI) , Indian Paper Manufacturers Association (IPMA), Taminadu Newsprint and Papers Ltd (TNPL ) , Avantha Center for Industrial Research and Development (ACIRD), Indian Institute of Petroleum (IIP) and J.K. Paper Ltd.:


Studies on ozone treatment of indigenous raw material pulp for better bleachability

An integrated approach for utilization of bagasse pith for production of bio-ethanol and value added lignin products

Management of emerging pests and disease of eucalyptus

Optimization of alkaline sizing to reduce sizing cost

Development of high ash paper

Fiber modification with enzymes

Development of high fiber Erianthus arundinaceous (wild cane) clones as alternate source of fibrous raw material for Pulp and Paper Industry
